You probably thought I dropped the ball on this whole blog thing. Oh ye of little faith! The truth is, things have been amping up over the past month or two after I got a shot a little while ago to do some international field work.
And sometimes, sometimes, you get your wish. And so, in a few days I take off for a move to Latin America, Colombia to be specific, to participate in a variety of rural enterprise development projects. I’ll be working with small scale farming communities, trying to assist them in adding value to their products while also developing better opportunities internationally for rural communities to participate in trade and commerce. The focus is on alleviating poverty though profits and I’ll be working with a team of people at CIAT and other partnering organizations to establishing sustainable models for replication that works for multi-national companies and the rural communities they source from.
So this blog will shift from looking at LA issues and urban gardening to thinking more about these types of agricultural projects in Latin America and musing over questions of international development in an international context. Of course, I’m sure I’ll pepper in some thoughts on living as an ex-pat and so on.
And so, I’m out of L.A and on to Latin America for awhile. If you find yourself somewhere in the vicinity, do let me know.
Clicking my heels and crossing my fingers… Stay tuned.
your blog is waaaaay behind you. will it ever catch up with the whirlwind?
