Updates!
So, my little patio garden is flowering and fruiting away. Read a past post about it’s creation here. You can’t see how gigantic that tomato plant is but… it is B-I-G. I’ve got peppers, two kinds of tomatoes, beets, spinach, endive, basil, mint, cilantro, green onions, strawberries and purple runner beans. I pretty much uprooted everything I had planted in the spring a month or so ago, it felt really good to have a clean state. Whew. Clean slates are awesome. The connections I end up drawing from my little garden to my own life are really amazing. Did I mention I also found a caterpillar cocoon? True story. So I pretty much am helping grow a butterfly. I also see bees frequently, which makes me happy that something is keeping them alive for a little bit longer.
I try to refrain from personal updates, and this may be treading the line, but, Summer is KICKING in Los Angeles! I’ve lived here for a few (4! wow!) years but for whatever reason these last few weeks have been especially adventurous- it’s like falling in love with a city and it’s people all over again. I’ve taken hikes I
haven’t ever been on, been to venues I never knew existed and gone mostly car-free! So there’s a renewed richness terms of things to do, great shows, bike rides, outdoor movies, and a refreshing slew of unexpected new friends. The days are long, it’s not killer hot yet, (my sister graduated from college!) and hey it’s going to be my birthday in a few weeks, and plans are already under construction. Oh, and someone been delivering lunch to my office…
One last thing- aren’t these the most beautiful flowers you’ve ever seen? Yep, I grew those. From seed.
Say it!
